Free Stuff for Christians and their Churches

Jewish historians Philo and Josephus are most useful in describing events and Judaism at the time of Jesus and the earliest church. Their works and similar early historical writings are available to read for free online. To make access easier, you can use the At Hand Library. It places the books and their sites at your fingertips, accompanied by search facilities for other valuable online resources. Josephus' Antiquities book 18 is the best starting place for those interested in Judaism at the time of Jesus and his first followers.

Internet Explorer () is the usual Web Browser for the usual PC user running the usual 'Microsoft Windows'. For Mac users, Safari () is your system's standard browser. These two links will direct you to the latest versions.

Many people refer to a Projector and PC as 'The PowerPoint', but that's just the name of Microsoft's Presentation Software! You don't even need the PowerPoint software to create, edit or display slides on a projector, so check out this free Worship Presentation Software: openlp.org has been created specifically for use in worship so it is far less cumbersome than messing with PowerPoint! It can help you plan and display acts of worship including songs, pictures and Bible passages. Presentation Software can cost hundreds of pounds but this offering is free!

Even if you want to work with PowerPoint files, there is rarely the need to pay Microsoft for the privilege! OpenOffice.org is a fabulous piece of software that rivals Microsoft Office and, like the more expensive versions of Office, it includes PowerPoint-compatible Presentation Software. Unlike Microsoft Office, however, OpenOffice.org is free!
