At the start of Mark's Gospel, you'll see a picture of Jesus at the start of his ministry. He enters his mission field with a message: "The Kingdom of God is At Hand" (Mark 1:15). - Not far away, hard to grasp, out of reach but Here and Now -and that Good News message is one people need to know in the world today: Jesus Christ is At Hand right Here and Now in our lives, in our time!
"The Kingdom of God is At Hand" is the message Jesus spoke (Mark 1:15) and told his disciples to speak (Matthew 10:7) - because it's what the people at the time needed to know. They were waiting for a Messiah, for the God of their fathers to come and rescue them from Roman occupation and the corruption of their religion by outsiders. But God wasn't far off - they didn't have to look, wait, wonder, or try by their own efforts to get God to be with them. Jesus came to earth and in his being among us he showed that "God is with us" ("Emmanuel"). The At Hand Creations initiative is based on Jesus' Good News (Gospel) message. Through visual and techinical creations (language of today) we help connect this essential truth with people's lives today. |

After 18 years growing up, I spent a further 18 years in the computer games industry: I loved being able to imagine something then create it, and if the technology didn't allow, I loved the challenge of trying to make the impossible possible!
In 2003, I became a Local Preacher in the Methodist Church. My training had helped me mature as a Christian. At the same time, the games industry was throwing up more and more ethical concerns. I spoke out and stayed clear of things I found contrary to my faith but in the end I had to quit. I believed the timing was certainly in God's hands but what was the next step? I'd spent lots of time over the previous months reading Mark's Gospel. My eyes were being opened to see it as a series of pictures. One day I hope to present the pictures in a way that helps people get a solid grasp of the Good News (Gospel). As I considered, prayed and talked about my aims, the 'vision' grew wider and grew into the '"At Hand Creations" initiative: Creations that promote the Christian message: "The kingdom of God is At Hand" The combination of creativity and technical challenge required for the At Hand initiative are right up my street - a good use of my God-given gifts and abilities, but He does seem to have a wild sense of humour when matching people with the tasks He has prepared for them: I've been partially sighted since birth (ocular albinism). Who on earth would give a 'visually impaired' person a 'vision' to produce 'visuals' for him?! (In my weakness You are strong!) |
